Berenice Celeita and her association NOMADESC have a long history of courageous work with Afro-Colombian\, Indigenous\, trade union and women’s collectives. Recognized with the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights Award in 1998\, Berenice coordinates the Peoples’ Intercultural University and the Round Table for Human Rights\, Guarantees and Protection in Buenaventura. Canada has a close relationship with Colombia as a major donor to peacebuilding and a partner in the Canada-Colombia Free Trade Agreement.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is an opportunity for members and activists to come together in person to and inspire one another\, to learn about each other’s activism efforts and campaigns\, to share stories and experiences\, and to listen\, learn and participate in workshops\, our sessions and panel discussions. \nThe AGM is also Amnesty Canada’s highest decision-making body\, and a place where important governance work happens\, including electing our National Board and voting on resolutions that guide us in how we do our work. Throughout the weekend\, you will meet and interact with individuals and groups from coast to coast to coast who share your commitment to human rights while making important decisions to guide our work.
