Fossil Fuels, Climate Change and Canada’s Shameful Record
2022-10-02 @ 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM
We hear often how fossil fuels are one of the main causes of the climate crisis. Yet Canada continues to fund the expansion of fossil fuels, condemning millions of people to the life-threatening impacts of worsening climate change. Oil and gas companies are making huge profits and continue production unabated. Canada’s export bank, Export Development Canada, is one of the biggest public financial backers of fossil fuels in the world. Why is this so?
Join us this coming Sunday, October 2, from 4:30 – 6pm, as Amnesty’s Climate Justice and Corporate Accountability Specialized Team hosts a free online workshop to throw a light on this situation.
Hear from two passionate climate action advocates:
- Dominic Twomey, Business and Human Rights campaigner at Amnesty International’s International Secretariat. Dominic works on Climate, Economic and Social Justice, and Corporate Accountability.
- Fiona Koza, Climate Accountability Strategist at West Coast Environmental Law, based in Vancouver. Fiona is a former climate justice campaigner at Amnesty Canada.
