For the first time in 3 years, Amnesty International Ottawa Gatineau held our in-person Write for Rights 2022 event hosted by the amazing folks at Arlington 5 Coffeehouse.
364 letters were written at our community Write for Rights event while the Uottawa group coordinated 137 letters!
These annual Write-A-Thons are great community building events where activists gather to write letters, sign petitions, enjoy music and refreshments and have gradually cemented their place as the world’s largest human rights event.
Amnesty International’s Write for Rights campaign sees thousands of groups in more than 200 countries and territories take millions of actions in support of people whose human rights are under attack.
This year’s featured human rights defenders, lining up with Amnesty International’s new global Protect the Protest campaign, are 13 individuals who have been targeted for their protest activities.
